"I am excited to announce my candidacy to represent the people of District 79. I believe that public policy has the power to improve people’s lives, and that elected officials have an obligation to be clear-eyed about what’s not working. If elected to the State Assembly, I will be a fierce and effective advocate for our region. I've never been afraid to speak truth to power, and to call for change where it's needed."

why I AM RUNNING
I believe that public policy has the power to improve people’s lives, and that elected officials have an obligation to be clear-eyed about what’s not working.
Today a lot of things aren’t working, and people are struggling. The rent is too high. Young and working people see buying a home to be ever further out of reach. The growing number of homeless need our compassion, and we need to find them homes. We also need to ensure that people who suffer from mental illness or addiction get the care they need, not to wallow in unsafe camps in our parks and on our streets.
We need to encourage economic growth, with good jobs for our region. And we need to champion the workers, so they have projections in the workplace, and an opportunity for their families to get ahead.
And we must use every opportunity to address climate change. We need massive investments in renewal energy, green jobs, and public transit.
As an advocate, I led a successful campaign to transform empty MTS parking lots into affordable homes. I secured a half-billion dollars to finally build a rail connection to the San Diego International Airport. In La Mesa, I reformed our local rules to allow home owners to invest in their properties with remodels and backyard cottages.
During my time in public service, I’ve never been satisfied with the status quo, and I’ve pushed for solutions that solve real problems.
If elected to the State Assembly, I will be a fierce and effective advocate for our region. I’ve never been afraid to speak truth to power, and to call for change where it’s needed.
